What you eat has a significant impact on how your skin and body age. Fuel your body with nutrient-packed foods high in antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats to nourish your skin from the inside out. Try incorporating these anti-aging foods into your diet:


Avocados:

Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats, which help keep your skin hydrated and supple. They’re also an excellent source of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from oxidative stress and supports a smooth, glowing complexion. Including avocados in your diet can combat dryness and promote skin elasticity.


Blueberries:

Blueberries are packed with antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which help combat free radical damage and reduce inflammation. These tiny berries are also high in vitamin C, essential for collagen production, which keeps your skin firm and youthful. Choose wild-caught salmon as often as possible. Farm-raised salmon lacks the same nutritional value as wild-caught fish due to significant differences in their diets. While farmed salmon is fed GMO soy and is linked to hormonal imbalances in those who consume it regularly. In contrast, wild salmon eat a natural diet of shrimp and plankton, which provides superior nutrition. Wild-caught salmon naturally displays its vibrant pink color because of the carotenoids and astaxanthin found in its diet, which contribute to its healthy appearance. Essentially, we are what we eat.

After spending years as a Licensed Cosmetologist, I came to see an unsettling truth about the beauty industry: it’s not as glamorous as it appears, it's petty toxic.


Many of the products lining store shelves are formulated with ingredients that can negatively impact women’s health when used consistently over time. With some research, one might wonder: how can such harmful ingredients be permitted in beauty products? Aren’t the items on store shelves meant to be safe and non-toxic? While these beauty products may not cause immediate damage, the long-term impact on our health paints a much more concerning picture.


Then you factor in everyday lifestyle factors like unhealthy ingredients and additives in foods, toxins in common items such as cookware, cleaning products, personal care items, and even the air we breathe, and it’s enough to leave you feeling overwhelmed, ready to throw your hands in the air and ask, "What gives?" Don’t worry—I’ve been there too.


Over 15 years ago, I began transitioning to a holistic lifestyle after learning about the toxins hidden in everyday products. Through extensive research, I discovered that the majority of items we use in our daily routines are not only toxic but also contribute to various health issues and accelerated aging.


As a Certified Nutritionist, Licensed Cosmetologist, and Holistic Beauty Expert, I am deeply committed to teaching others how to reduce their exposure to toxins and adopt a wellness-focused lifestyle that supports graceful aging and radiant health.


The following are a great starting point to minimize your exposure to toxins:


Switch to Clean Beauty Products

Replace conventional cosmetics and skincare with clean, non-toxic alternatives free from harmful chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances.

Choose Natural Cleaning Products

Conventional cleaning products often contain harsh chemicals that can harm your health. Opt for products free from synthetic fragrances and harsh chemicals. You can also try DIY solutions using ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils for a safer cleaning alternative.


Ditch Plastic for Safer Alternatives

Avoid using plastic containers and cooking utensils, as they can leach harmful chemicals like BPA and phthalates. Switch to glass, 100% pure ceramic cookware (my favorite!) stainless steel, or silicone alternatives.


Switch to Non Toxic Cookware

The cookware we use is just as crucial to our health as the food we prepare. Many mainstream cookware options contribute to daily exposure to toxins. Items like Teflon, nonstick pans, aluminum cookware, ceramic-coated pots, and plastic cutting boards and utensils can all increase the toxic burden on our bodies. Since many of us cook several times a day, it’s vital to choose healthier alternatives to reduce these risks.

Whenever possible, choose organic fruits and vegetables to avoid synthetic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Make sure to check out the EWG's Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 guide to identify which foods contain the highest level of pesticides.


Filter Your Water

Tap water can contain contaminants like chlorine, heavy metals, antibiotics, Fluoride, and other contaminants. Invest in a high-quality water filter for your drinking and cooking water to ensure it’s clean and healthy.


By taking these steps, you’ll significantly reduce your exposure to harmful substances and set the foundation for a toxin-free, wellness-focused lifestyle.

#5 Practice Stress Management
